Fragile or sticky-album photos are handled one at a time on a flatbed — they just take a little longer.

Start with a One-Time Onboarding — about $299

It starts with a free 30-minute systems review call — a look at your setup and an honest read on what needs doing, before any commitment. Then, if you go ahead: an initial cleanup, an account & password audit (including accounts for people who left), MFA rolled out for everyone, and backups set up properly. The onboarding fee is paid up front. Most offices have at least one surprise in there.

Why businesses are buying this now

Cyber-insurance applications ask, in writing: Is MFA enforced? Are backups tested? Is endpoint protection managed? If the honest answer is “no” or “we don't know,” premiums climb or coverage gets refused — and a leak of client files carries real legal obligations. A retainer turns all three answers into “yes,” with the quarterly report to prove it.

How it works

From “something's wrong” to fixed, in five steps

1

Reach out on Facebook

Send a message describing the problem (and the package you're eyeing, if you know it), your community, and a good time for a quick look.

2

Free 15-minute diagnosis

A short remote look over Quick Assist — no charge, no deposit. You meet the tech, learn whether it's fixable, and get the exact package price confirmed.

3

Book the fix — $25 deposit

Book your fix session with a $25 deposit by Interac e-Transfer to freezeupnorth@gmail.com. It comes straight off the package price. Can't fix it? The deposit is refunded the same day — no fix, no fee still holds.

4

Watch it get fixed

At the agreed evening time, you open the link, approve the connection, and watch everything. Hang up and the access is gone.

5

Balance & summary

Pay the balance by e-Transfer at the end of the session, then get a plain-English summary: what was wrong, what was done, what to watch for. Same issue back in 7 days? Free recheck.

Pay by e-Transfer

How paying works

Diagnosis is free — the first 15 minutes cost nothing and commit you to nothing. To book the fix, new customers send a $25 deposit by Interac e-Transfer to freezeupnorth@gmail.com; it comes off the package price, and the balance is paid by e-Transfer at the end of the session. If we can't fix it, the deposit is refunded the same day. Need to reschedule? Your deposit moves free to one new time. Monthly plans (Care Plan and business retainers) are settled monthly by e-Transfer for now. Online card payment is coming soon.

Honest answers

Before you reach out

What can't be fixed remotely?

Dead hardware: a failed hard drive, cracked screen, swollen battery, a machine that won't power on or won't start Windows at all. Anything that needs hands inside the case, and data recovery from a physically dead drive — that's a specialist lab job.

A remote session still earns its keep on most of these: a drive-health check can tell you in ten minutes exactly which part to buy and which local shop to visit, instead of paying for a full diagnostic visit. And if it truly can't be fixed remotely, no fix, no fee — any booking deposit is refunded the same day.

My screen says my computer is locked and to call a number. What do I do?

Don't call the number, don't pay anything, and don't let anyone who calls you connect to your computer. Nine times out of ten it's a fake — a web page pretending to be a lock. Close the browser or restart the machine, then reach out for a Scam Rescue ($39) and we'll make sure nothing nasty was left behind.

If files really have been renamed and won't open, that's genuine ransomware: unplug the network cable, turn Wi-Fi off, stop using the machine, and get in touch. Never pay a ransom — recovery means rebuilding clean and restoring from backup, which is exactly what the Evacuation-Proof Backup sets you up for.

Is it safe to let someone connect to my computer?

With Freeze-Up North: you start the connection, you watch every move on your own screen, and you can end it at any second. When the session ends, there is no leftover access — no password kept, no back door. You're also dealing with a local Yellowknife person, not an overseas call centre that called you out of the blue. Never accept a remote session from anyone who phones you unsolicited.

Where do you serve? I'm not in Yellowknife.

Everywhere in the Northwest Territories — remote sessions work the same in Inuvik, Hay River, Fort Smith, Fort Simpson, Norman Wells, or a community with no local tech at all. All you need is a computer that turns on and an internet connection. Photo digitizing pickup and hand-return is Yellowknife-area.

What do I need for a session?

A Windows computer that boots up and connects to the internet, and you sitting in front of it at the agreed time. That's it — the connection tool is built into Windows, nothing to buy or install ahead of time.

How does payment work?

Three steps, all by Interac e-Transfer, all in Canadian dollars. First, the diagnosis is free — a 15-minute remote look at the problem, no charge and no deposit, where you find out whether it's fixable and get the exact package price confirmed.

Then a $25 deposit books your fix session — send it by Interac e-Transfer to freezeupnorth@gmail.com. It comes off the package price — on a $99 Deep Clean, for example, you'd pay $25 to book and $74 at the end. Finally, the balance is paid by e-Transfer at the end of your session.

And no fix, no fee still holds: if we can't fix it, your deposit is refunded the same day. Photo digitizing is the one exception — no deposit there; you pay in full when your originals and files are returned. Monthly plans are settled monthly by e-Transfer for now; online card payment is coming soon.

What if I need to reschedule?

Life happens — especially up here. Your $25 deposit moves free to one new time, no questions and no fee. Just message before your session and we'll find another evening.

What if the same problem comes back?

If the same issue returns within 7 days of your session, it's looked at again for free. If it turns out to be something new, you'll be told honestly before any new charge.

What to put in your message

Three things, and you're done — use the panel on the left to put them together, copy them, and paste them into your Facebook message or an email to freezeupnorth@gmail.com:

  • Your town or community — Yellowknife, Inuvik, Hay River, anywhere in the NWT
  • A good evening time for your free 15-minute diagnosis

What happens next: a reply from a real person (this is a one-person local business, not a call centre) and a time for your free diagnosis — a short remote look where you learn whether it's fixable and get the exact price confirmed. If you go ahead, a $25 e-Transfer deposit books the fix session (it comes off the price, and it's refunded the same day if we can't fix it), you watch everything during the session, and the balance is paid by e-Transfer at the end. The guarantees stand on every session: you watch everything, zero access is kept afterwards, no fix means no fee, and the same problem returning within 7 days gets a free recheck.
